Castore 4225 m - normal route

Castore 4225 m - normal route

Alpinistic ascent to mount Castore over 4000 m, located in Val d'Aosta halfway between Monte Rosa, Cervino and Breithorn

Informazioni aggiuntive

It is a beautiful peak in the heart of the 4000 m of Aosta Valley, mount Castore at 4225 m. Not a difficult ascent but you need to have confidence with the use of crampons, expecially for the last part on the amazing snowy (or little icy) ridge.

The climb also requires an overnight stay in the beautiful Guide Val d'Ayas refuge at 3585 m. We can reach it with few hours of walk, starting from Bettaforca Col, where we will arrive by the help of the lifts (or a Jeep service).

The proposal shown here includes the ascent in 2 days, if you have other requests or questions do not hesitate to contact us via email or Whatsapp.

Schedule

Day 1: journey to Frachey in Ayas Valley (1700 m) or to Gressoney la Trinitè and ascent to the Quintino Sella refuge at 3585 m. We first arrive to Bettaforca Col (at 2637 m) with the lifts or the Jeep's service. Then in about 3 h 30' we will reach the refuge, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: breakfast before dawn and off towards our goal, the Castore peak. In the last part we will walk on a beautiful ridge that will led us to the very peak at 4225 m. With clear sky the view from here is truly breathtaking! A short break and we will then descend towards the refuge and then to Bettaforca. From here with the ski lifts or the Jeep service we will return to the car.
