Informazioni aggiuntive
The Bernina is a wild peak and from whichever side you climb it, it is still a long walk among glaciers and unique walls. The proposal described here rises from the Italian side, starting from the lake-dam of Campo Moro, above Chiesa in Valmalenco (SO).
Come and climb the easternmost 4000m of the Alps!
Schedule
Day 1: journey towards Valmalenco and the Campo Moro lake (altitude 1980 m) and ascent on foot towards the Marinelli-Bombardieri refuge (2813 m), passing through the Carate Brianza refuge. Approximately 3 hours of walking and 900 m of positive altitude difference. Overnight stay at Marinelli with half board service.
Day 2: departure very early in the morning to first reach the western Marinelli pass and then the vast upper Scerscen glacier, in the direction of the Cresta Aguzza Canal. Depending on the conditions, we will climb the canal or a via ferrata and reach the Marco e Rosa refuge at 3600 m of altitude. A short break and we set off towards the final ridge which passes by Punta Perrucchetti (4021 m) and reaches the summit at 4048 m. The ridge includes grade II-III climbing steps and given the long route to reach it, it is good to arrive with still some energy.
The descent takes place along the ascent route; return home in the evening.
