Margherita hut is the symbol of M. Rosa and is the Europe's highest hut. 2 days of mountaineering over 4000 m, immersed in the breathtaking M. Rosa massif.

Margherita Hut's ascent, the highest in Europe, is one of the most coveted and exciting experience for high mountain enthusiasts. From the top of the 4554-meter Punta Gnifetti, the wide view including the dizzying south face of Monte Rosa over Alagna and Val Sesia, loosing itself in the Po Valley to the Maritime Alps. The trip to Margherita Hut is a challenge with themself, a test of endurance, a desire to be fulfilled, a sudden thrill, a journey into one's personal history and above all an irrational and uncontainable adventure.

Schedule

  • Day one: from Alagna Valsesia or Staffal-Gressoney we will take the cable car up to Punta Indren (3275 m), then we'll reach the Mantova hut at 3498 m (or Gnifetti Hut) by an easy walk. We will discuss about the walk on the glacier of the next day and then we will eat a good dinner and sleep into the hut. About 1 h 30'-2h walking.

  • Day two: breakfast early in the morning and ascent toward Lys Col (4226 m) and then to Punta Gnifetti 4554 m, where Europe's highest Margherita hut is located. About 5 hours for reaching Margherita hut (1100 m of difference in altitude).

  • Descent: from the ascent route and return via cable car from Punta Indren.
